I read to prepare myself for my new job

My first one was

Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us AllBook by David M. Kelley and Tom Kelley

After years of working as a creative lead and designing a few brand identities and I couldn’t gather the courage to share my work. I didn’t have the confidence to put my work out there for others to critique. And if no one criticises you, you won’t learn or improve. It’s a vicious spiral, and getting out of it has become quite tough. I’ve realised that I need to learn to be more self-assured when making these creative judgments. This is when the book Creative Confidence comes in handy.

“The first step toward a great answer is to reframe the question.”
Tom Kelley, Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All

This book claims to help you reach your full creative potential. For the most part, Creative Confidence focuses on individuals and their creativity in the workplace. It examines the difficulty of gaining stakeholder buy-in and the obstacles of organisational culture. How a company’s culture should value innovation as a vital component. Overall, it’s wonderful stuff, and it’s a gold mine of ideas for fostering creativity in the workplace. I didn’t learn a lot of innovative ideas as a creative person. I felt like I was taking the same lesson all over again. Someone working in a business context, on the other hand, might find it engaging and approach tasks differently. And won’t look down on someone who is trying something new.

“Belief in your creative capacity lies at the heart of innovation.”
David Kelley, Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All

2nd Book that I picked

Is about Apple. How can I not add this to the list? One of the best or only the best Company when It comes to design and marketing.

I’m talking about Apple. How could I leave this off the list? When it comes to design and marketing, this company is one of the best, if not the best.

When you see someone performing better than you, it’s easy to pass judgement and assume, “Oh, they just got lucky.” You, on the other hand, are unaware of their dedication and vision. What we don’t see is the enormous amount of focus and dedication that goes into everything from developing the appropriate fonts to ensuring that everyone shares the same vision. This also demonstrates the most successful eras in a company’s history, if not the most successful periods in its history. Apple released an amazing succession of products in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including the iMac, iPod, and iPhone. It’s a must-read if you want to understand how crucial every small detail is.

“For Edison, it was more important to build on promising ideas and keep working and working until an invention was made real.”
Ken Kocienda (Creative Selection: Inside Apple’s Design Process During the Golden Age of Steve Jobs)

I was conversing with my brother a few days ago about relationships and how difficult it is to comprehend someone when everyone is pretending to be better and different all the time. He stated “If you want to know someone, look at their Spotify playlist or Youtube history. Knowing what kind of content a person consumes will help you understand them far better. This is the one place where people can’t lie these days “.. (I know! he’s brilliant!)

You should read this book for further insights. Every day, we make several personal and professional decisions. And if you want to know if you made the correct decision today. This book will assist you in achieving that goal. The examples are fantastic. The research takes some time to read, but it’s well worth it in the end.

“There can be as much value in the blink of an eye as in months of rational analysis.”
Malcolm Gladwell (Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking)

Seth Godin is someone you should go to when you have any marketing questions. All these books have amazing ideas and stories. I picked this as my first book of his. I have highlighted so much that I crossed the limit of highlighting in Kindle. I have written this blog totally inspired by this book.

How marketing is all about telling stories and inspiring people. You can read it here.

“We sell feelings, status, and connection, not tasks or stuff.”
Seth Godin (This is Marketing: You Can’t Be Seen Until You Learn To See)

What else can I say about Simon Sinek that hasn’t already been said? All of his books should be added to the list. This book has very practical lessons and real examples and will inspire you to work.

One more bonus point if you have read it so far.

I also want to add Thinking Fast & Thinking Slow by Daniel Kahneman.

“If you care about being thought credible and intelligent, do not use complex language where simpler language will do.”
Daniel Kahneman, Thinking, Fast and Slow

Thank you so much for taking the time to read it. Please let me know if it inspired you in any way.

And don’t forget to Hit a Clap!
